Illinois Public Act 91-0233 Enacted 7/22/99
Prohibits unsolicited commercial e-mail that used a third party's domain name without permission, misrepresents information that identifies the origin of the message, or contains false or misleading information in the subject header. It also sets regulations for legitimate commercial e-mail.

Illinois House Bill 2718 Pending
This would require unsolicited commercial e-mail and faxes to contain valid toll-free numbers and return addresses for opt-out purposes. This bill would also impose up to $25,000 in fines for violations.
