California Assembly Bill 1629 enacted 9/26/98
Permits providers to sue customers who knowingly violate their policy concerning unsolicited commercial messages(spammers) and imposes criminal penalties upon those who falsify a domain name to send the messages.
California Assembly Bill 1676 enacted 9/26/98
Requires unsolicited e-mail advertisements to include an opt-out that contains either a toll-free telephone number or a valid return address; Also requires senders to
remove from the list those who request to opt-out. Certain e-mail advertisements must have "ADV:" or "ADV:ADLT" at the beginning of the subject line.
